| Company Index | Not very much is known about this company that seems to have started out as a sole trader in the plumbing business.. James Clifford Toogood is shown as a plumber in Kellys dated 1911 and may well have been related to the pork pie maker Fredrick Toogood who operated in 1905 from Great Hampton Row . By 1926 they had moved and In 1911 JC Toogood was located in Great Coleman Street but later moved to Cardigan Street where they were still trading in the 70s. The company expanded after this move and in 1932 were shown in Kellys as Plumbers, Electricians, Zinc Wokers, Sanitory, Power and Lighting Engineers. In the middle sixties they were shown as tube manipulators and they took over premises at 656 Chester Road but only stayed for a short period and it is not known what they did at these premises but it has been suggested that they were connected with Tudor Heating. It seems that Warwick Plant Hire took over these premises around 1970. |
